File - External Data

Ribbon bar. Select the File tab. In the left pane, select External Data to access the options described here.

Query. The following options are located under the Query heading:

Open. Click Open to display the standard Open dialog box, which is used to locate and open any existing Statistica Query file (*.sqy).

Create. Click Create to open Statistica Query and display the Database Connection dialog box. Once you have chosen or defined a database connection, you can use Statistica Query to write your query.

Edit. Click Edit to edit the query in the active spreadsheet. Note that if you have multiple queries on the active spreadsheet, Statistica opens the query that is associated with the active cell. If you select a cell that is not connected to any query or if you select multiple cells that involve more than one query, the Select Database Query dialog box is displayed.

Properties. Click Properties to display the Query Properties dialog box. Use the options in this dialog box to specify properties for the query you are currently writing. To specify these properties for all queries (and not just the current query), use the Global Options dialog box.

Refresh Data. Click Refresh Data to run a query and refresh the data (retrieve the latest data from the original database). Note that if you have multiple queries on the active spreadsheet, Statistica refreshes data for the query associated with the active cell of the spreadsheet. If you select a cell that is not connected to any query or if you select multiple cells that involve more than one query, the Select Database Query dialog box is displayed so you can choose the specific query to refresh.

Delete. Click Delete to delete the query from the active spreadsheet. (Statistica always prompts you to verify that the query should be deleted.) Note that if you have multiple queries on the active spreadsheet, Statistica deletes the query associated with the active cell of the spreadsheet. If you select a cell that is not connected to any query or if you select multiple cells that involve more than one query, the Select Database Query dialog box is displayed so you can choose which query to delete.

Cancel. Click Cancel to stop a currently running query at any time. Note that Shift+F5 is a shortcut for this option. See Statistica Query for further details.

Streaming DB Connector. Click Streaming DB Connector to display the StreamingDB dialog box to access options to create a new streaming database connector (*.sti). For more information, see the Streaming Database Connector and Cursor definitions, Streaming Database Connector Technology (Technical Overview), and Streaming Database Connector FAQs.
