Ribbon Bar

To display the Statistica ribbon bar:

To return to the classic menus, click the icon on the Quick Access toolbar in the upper-left corner of the ribbon bar, or select the View tab and in the Interface group, click Classic Menus.

The Statistica ribbon bar is a visual navigation tool for accessing Statistica features. It is an alternative to multiple levels of hierarchical menus. The most common controls and modules are visible and easy to access from the ribbon bar. A key control is displayed as a large icon; a less common control can be found by clicking a drop-down arrow.

Controls are organized into a set of tabs, each one containing a group of relevant commands. Double-click any tab to minimize the ribbon bar (i.e., display only the tabs at the top of the application). To maximize the ribbon bar, double-click again on a tab.

Keyboard access to the ribbon bar. To access ribbon bar tabs and options through your keyboard, press Alt. The currently displayed tab will be highlighted. Press Tab or the arrow keys to move through the options. When a menu name is selected, press Enter to display the menu, and press the arrow keys to move through the menu. To select a different tab, press Alt + the underlined letter of the tab you want to display (e.g., Alt+M selects the Data Mining tab).

Quick Access toolbar. By default, the Quick Access toolbar is located in the upper-left corner of the ribbon bar. This toolbar contains a default set of commands. Click the icon to save the active document. Click the icon to undo the last operation. Click the icon to redo the previously undone action. Click the icon to repeat a formatting change in a spreadsheet. Click the icon to print the active document. Click the icon to close the ribbon bar and display the classic menus. Click the icon to display options for customizing the Quick Access toolbar (see also, Customize Quick Access Toolbar).

Click the button (in the upper-right corner) to display a menu containing the following commands: Style (displays a menu with commands to change the color of the ribbon bar), Right To Left (toggles right to left orientation of the ribbon bar), and Ribbon Bar (click to revert to Classic Menus).

Click the icon to display Statistica Help.

Following is a list of the ribbon bar tabs. On each tab, hover over an option or menu command and press F1 on your keyboard to display a Help topic describing the option.

File. The File tab is available regardless of the type of document selected. Select the File tab to access the following options: Save, Save As, Open, Open Examples, Close, Properties, New, Print, Project (Save, Save As, Open, and Close), SharePoint (Checkout, Checkin, Discard, Edit Fields), External Data, Add to Document, Help/Support, Settings (Output Manager, Options), and Exit.

Home. The Home tab is available regardless of the type of document selected. Select the Home tab to display the following groups: File, Output, Tools, SharePoint, and Windows.

Server. The Server tab is available only if you have Statistica Enterprise Server installed on your machine. Select this tab to display the following groups: User, File, Tasks, Transfer, and Tools.

Edit. The Edit tab contains different groups/options according to the type of document currently displayed.

View. The View tab is available when a spreadsheet is selected. Click the View tab to display the following groups: Display, Windows, and Interface.

Insert. The Insert tab is available when a graph is selected.

Format. The Format tab contains different groups/options when a data file or a graph is selected.

Statistics. The Statistics tab is available regardless of the type of document selected. Click the Statistics tab to display the following groups: Base, Advanced/Multivariate, Industrial Statistics, and Tools.

Data Mining. Click the Data Mining tab to display the following groups: Recipes, Trees/Partitioning, Learning, Clustering/Grouping, Text Mining, Rule Extraction, Deployment, and Tools.

Graphs. The Graphs tab is available regardless of the type of document selected. Click the Graphs tab to display the following groups: Common, More, and Tools.

Tools. The Tools tab is displayed only when a data file is selected.

Data. The Data tab is displayed only when a data file is selected. The Data tab contains the following groups: Transformations, Cases, Variables, and Manage.

Workbook. The Workbook tab is displayed only when a workbook is selected. This tab contains the following groups: Clipboard, Items, Export Graphs, Extract, Multi-Item Display, and Tools.

Report. The Report tab is displayed only when a report is selected. This tab contains the following groups: Clipboard/Data, Find/Replace, Format, Layout, Insert, Print, Display, and Links.
