Random numbers (uniform)

The uniform random number generator used in Statistica is an implementation and combination of various techniques discussed in Press, Teukolsky, Vetterling, & Flannery (1995). The uniform random number generator routine in Statistica has been tested with the DIEHARD suite of tests (Marsaglia, 1998). DIEHARD applies various methods of assembling and combining uniform random numbers, and then performs statistical tests that are expected to be nonsignificant; this suite of tests has become a standard method of evaluating the quality of uniform random number generator routines (see also McCullough, 1998, 1999). The Statistica random number generator passes all DIEHARD tests.
