Edit Spreadsheet Layout

Click the Edit button in the Spreadsheet Layout dialog box to display the Edit Spreadsheet Layout dialog box, which is used to create new formats, edit existing formats, and delete formats within a spreadsheet layout. Use the options in this dialog box to choose which formats are applied to the different sections of the spreadsheet, and you can choose to preview any selected formats as well as the complete set of formats. Note that the most recent format overlays the previously created formats, creating an all-encompassing spreadsheet layout.

Formats. Use this list box to select the format you want to edit. The rest of the options on this dialog box reflect the selected format's options.

Edit. Click this button to display the Edit Format dialog box, which is used to modify the selected format in the Format list box.

Delete. Click this button to delete the selected format in the Formats list box.

New. Click this button to add a format to the spreadsheet layout. The New Format dialog box (which is identical to the Edit Format dialog box) is then displayed, where you can select formatting options for the new format.

Copy From. Click this button to choose from a drop-down list of available formats. When you select a format, the formatting options from that format replace the formatting options of the format that is selected in the Formats list box.

Areas of Spreadsheet affected by format. The options in this group box are used to select the areas of the spreadsheet to which the selected format should be applied. See the Spreadsheet Window Overview for more information on the different parts of a spreadsheet.

Case Header. Select this check box to apply the selected format to the Case Header cells in the spreadsheet.

Variable Header. Select this check box to apply the selected format to the Variable Header cells in the spreadsheet.

Data. Select this check box to apply the selected format to the Data portion of the spreadsheet.

Info box. Select this check box to apply the selected format to the Info box portion of the spreadsheet.

Header. Select this check box to apply the selected format to the Header section of the spreadsheet.

Range of variables. Select All to apply the selected format to all of the variables in the spreadsheet. Select From and enter variable numbers in the accompanying fields to apply the selected format to a specific set of variables.

Range of cases. Select All to apply the selected format to all of the cases in the spreadsheet. Select From and enter case numbers in the accompanying fields to apply the selected format to a specific set of cases.

Preview. There are two preview options, which are used to see how the format(s) look when applied to a spreadsheet:

Selected Format. Select this option button to preview the selected format in the preview area of the dialog box.

All Formats. Select this option button to preview all formats in the style set in the preview area of the dialog box.
