Links

On the Edit menu, select Links to display the Links dialog box, which is used to manage links between the spreadsheet and other applications.

Source. This area of the dialog box displays the pathway of the file to which the spreadsheet is linked.

Type. This area of the dialog box displays the type of associated application to which the spreadsheet is linked.

Update. This area of the dialog box displays the current status of each file linked to the spreadsheet. The link status of each file can be changed by first highlighting the file name and then clicking on one of the option buttons described below. (Note that when the spreadsheet is not linked, the buttons in this dialog box are not available.)

Automatic. This is the default link status. When the Automatic option button is selected, you can make changes to the spreadsheet data and the respective file to which the spreadsheet is linked is automatically updated to reflect those changes.

Manual. When you select the Manual option button, then the link between the spreadsheet and the file is only updated when you click the Update Now button (see below).

Update Now. Click the Update Now button to update the spreadsheet manually.

Open Source. Click the Open Source button to open the associated application to which the spreadsheet is linked.

Change Source. Click the Change Source button to display the Change Source dialog box. The Change Source dialog box is the standard file selection dialog box used to change the file to which the spreadsheet is linked.

Break Link. Click the Break Link button to permanently break the link between the spreadsheet and file.
