Tools - Selection Conditions - Edit

Ribbon bar. Select the Tools tab. Click Selection Conditions and from the menu, select Edit...

Classic menus. From the Tools - Selection Conditions submenu, select Edit (or click the toolbar button located on the Spreadsheet toolbar)... display the Spreadsheet Case Selection Conditions dialog box.

This dialog box contains three tabs: Selections, Display, and Subset/Random Sampling. Use the Selections tab to create or edit selection conditions that select a subset of cases of the current spreadsheet. Selection conditions can be entered by expression or by case number. You can enter selection conditions to either include or exclude cases.

In the Expression boxes, operators =, <>, <, >, <=, >=, NOT, AND, and OR can be used as well as all arithmetic operations, STATISTICA math and statistical functions, and STATISTICA distributions (see the Function Browser for further details on STATISTICA functions and distributions). Variables are referred to by their names or by v1, v2, etc. Case numbers are represented by v0 (e.g., v0<=2 refers to cases 1 and 2). Finally, text must be included in single quotation marks (e.g., v1='male'). In the or case number boxes, case numbers (e.g. 1, 7, 9) and/or case ranges (e.g. 1-50, 75:150) separated by commas can be used. See What syntax can be used to create case selection/verification/recode conditions?.

Use the Display tab to apply the Selection Conditions spreadsheet layout to cases meeting your selection conditions. See Spreadsheet Layouts for further details. Use the Subset/Random Sampling tab to create a new subset of the current spreadsheet either by case selection conditions or random sampling techniques.

Finally, click the Open and Save As buttons to open previously saved selection conditions or to save the current selection conditions, respectively.
