Contingency Table

Also known as crosstabulation, a contingency table is a multidimensional (at least two-dimensional) frequency table. It provides information on the frequency of observations belonging to each combination of the categories of the selected variables. This table can reveal dependencies between the variables. For example, two products, A and B, were shown to two groups of consumers, 1 and 2. The consumers were asked to select the product they prefer. This information can be displayed in a contingency table showing the frequencies of the product and group combinations:
