Partial Correlation

A correlation between two variables that remains after controlling for (e.g., partialling out) one or more other variables. For example, the Hair Length may correlate with Height (with taller individuals having shorter hair), however, that correlation will likely become smaller or even disappear if the influence of Gender is removed, since women are generally shorter and are more likely to have longer hair than men.
